Build Something God Could Bless

Are we building something that God could bless?

Or have we created a mess that we want God to condone us and expect to be blessed.

Sometimes we are building different things. And it is easy to destroy than to build.

How we could be blessed if we are not building something that God could bless.

Something that pleases and moves God.

Most of us desire to be blessed just like what God did to Noah’s family.

The saving of Noah’s family from the great destruction did not just happen because God wanted it, but Noah found favor in God.

He walked and worked by faith.

Are we Noah of the modern age?

Let us dig dip into the life of Noah because by learning about his life, we could also imitate his faith that it counts him as righteousness.

Because Noah was blessed, we could experience the same blessing if we imitate him.

Successes always leave tracks.

The desire to be successful could be attained if we imitate the pattern and behavior of successful people.

We could experience the same blessings if we follow and do what the blessed people do.

The just shall live by faith.

We are in a world where wickedness becomes a norm; we are surrounded by ideas, ideologies, and principles that daily contradict and destroy our faith in God.

We face a lot of tough challenges that if we will not stand our ground, our faith and core beliefs could be easily affected and maneuvered by these changing times.

This is not new anymore.

In the times of Noah, the Lord saw the wickedness of man was great. He felt sorry that He created them and there was grieved in His heart. Genesis 6:5-6

But among God’s creation at that time, it was only Noah that found favor in the eyes of the Lord. He was blameless and a righteous man as Noah walked with God.

How is our faith?

Is our faith anchored down deep that we remain blameless and righteous despite the turbulent times of this world?

Noah walked with God.

For us not to be affected and conformed to the pattern of this world, our faith should be like a seed that grows and is deep-rooted in the depth of our spirit.

So how is our faith?

Enoch lived and walked with God so that he never experience death.

Even God was disappointed with His creation, but because of His mercy, compassion, and justice, He cannot wipe out men because there was one man who lived in righteousness.

This world is always fascinated with something cute.

Isn’t it that we are fascinated with a dog that looks so cute?

But do you think, God will be pleased and fascinated with our small faith because it doesn’t grow?

Although God requires that we should have faith like a mustard seed but it doesn’t stop there, as our faith must grow overtimes.

Because even a mustard seed grows as big as a tree.

Is our faith rooted and grounded?

As the trees flourish and grow up, deep below its roots sprouts and anchor down.

A tree that only grows tall with unhealthy roots, expect that any storms can make it fall.

Are we building our faith so that it could remain strong and growing?

Man builds his muscles in the gym by constant work-out and exercise, are we also working out our faith?

Because if we will not exercise our faith, don’t expect that it will be strong enough to stand in the tough and terrible times.

Faith should be exercised and the more we stretch it, the more it becomes resilient.

God has given everyone the same measure of seed, the same muscles, the same faith but it depends on how we exercise and build it.

Noah walked by faith and it does not mean that walking with faith excuses him from the sweat and law of life.

For how many years, he was ridiculed. He was mocked, people laugh at him and still, Noah walked by faith.

How is our faith?

By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household. -Hebrew 11:7

Noah took it seriously what was said to him by God.

It is the first time that faith and fear come along.

He had faith yet he was moved with fear. It’s a fear with reverence and respect and obedience believing that what was instructed to him was true.

Being moved with fear, Noah builds the ark to save his house.

His faith became an antenna that connects with God.

If we have faith, there will no ‘dead spot’ because we will always be connected.

Our communication link is always open so that we can easily download any updates from God.

And because we have that open access to God, He can freely warn us of any unforeseen happening that might harm us.

The Pharaoh during the time of Joseph was warned by God of the coming seven years of prosperity and seven years of famine.

Noah and Joseph’s faith gave them the intelligence to know and understand what God wanted them to do.

Are you a fool? Or are willing to be a fool for a while?

As Paul said, “I am a fool for Christ!” Whose fool are you?

If you have faith, you will always look like a fool for a while.

A man with real faith will always look a fool in the eyes of many.

Noah was mistaken to be a fool when all the people saw him building an ark while the sun was so bright and there were no signs of rain.

But because he was warned by God he moved with fear and did what God exactly wanted him to do.

A man with faith sees things while others don’t.

You look a fool for a while because you can see what God wants you to see while others cannot grasp what you are seeing.

Because they don’t understand what you are doing, they presumed that you are insane.

When you do exactly God’s instruction and rule, others may presume that you are a fool.

While you look like insane, God sees you as saint.

“Maaaring sa paningin ng iba ikaw ay hangal ngunit ang tingin ng Diyos sayo ay banal

So many times that we use all our efforts on our past instead of focusing on our future.

Don’t exert our efforts in the past because the past is past and the past is already history.

Our past could be a mess but our future could be amazing.

You cannot fix what has happened in the past but you can build something good for the future in the grace of God.

Our future could only be lived by what we build.

Are we asking God too much that aside from asking him what will happen next, we also ask Him to build the ark for us?

God warned us what will happen next but we must build our own ark.

Sometimes we equate our laziness with faith, so we procrastinate.

He has given us much time to build our own boat.

Yes God has given you the talent to sing, but you need to hone and practice your skill.

How do we expect to build a good and lasting relationship with your family when we are not investing our time to build it.

You dream to retire young and rich but are you building now your wealth?

Build something today that God can bless something for you in the future.

Do what you really need to do because, in the first place, God gives us the wisdom and instruction to do exactly what He wanted.

Noah was not only warned but also instructed by God on the exact dimensions and materials of how to build the ark.

We can find as well that instruction on how to build our own by the wisdom we can find in His Words.

Our actions trigger God could do what’s next.

In Psalm 1 says that blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of ungodly nor sit in the seat of the scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruits in season and its leaf does not wither; and in WHATEVER HE DOES, HE PROSPERS.

Noah did the building, God did the blessings.

Noah was already 600 years old before he entered the ark.

Joseph had seven years of prosperity before the famine came.

God has given us much time to prepare and build our ark. We have more time to prepare our storehouse so that God could fill it.

Are we using this time to prepare for building something God could bless?

Are we preparing the storehouse while we are waiting for the harvest?

Are we building the ark before the rain comes?

Do we start saving some seeds that we could use in our retirement?

Anything that we put forward appreciates. Money was thrown forward through stocks, investments, real estate, mutual funds,s, and business increases.

Start saving while it’s not yet raining.

God is blessing us right now and He is continuously giving you enough strength, and resources to build.

Don’t wait for the rain to pour because it’s already late.

Don’t consider your today as you final destination because at the time that God closes the ark, that ends His invitation.

God has given us time to build our bridge and traverse the road towards the ark prepared by God for all of us.

He never wavers in inviting us to come and He let the door open for all of us.

We have to build not only for our earthly desires but most important is to build for something that cannot be corrupted nor destroyed by moth, fire, and rust.

We have to build our spiritual relationship with God while He continues to open the door of His ark.

We have to work and walk in faith like Noah because it will count to us as righteousness.

Our present is only temporary; much more we aspire to a life that leads to eternity.

Our present is temporary but built something for eternity.

Don’t preserve the temporary, build for something that last for eternity.

Today let us walk forward to the door of the ark, let us step towards His grace.

May we build a life that God’s worthy to bless.

Matthew 2:1-12

Walk toward your Stars

At the start of the year 2016, it is an opportunity for us to look back and thank God for a wonderful and blissful year God has given us in the past.

This is not a time to regret but rather be grateful for whatever we achieved, whatever we received. Even there were failures; there were no mistakes but only lessons learned.

What has passed is history.

We have to move forward with much zeal and hope as there are always something in store and the best is yet to come.

Jesus is the bright morning star, a star that outshines all the stars.

He is the light shining, giving us hope, direction and light.

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches, I am the root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.”-Revelation 12:16

We walk forward to reach Him, our star. Like the Magi, they brave the journey till they reach the star, where Jesus was lying on a manger.

All of us have our own star to follow.

What is your star that you want to reach?

What are your dreams that you want to achieve?

With that desires to walk toward Jesus, we also have our own dreams, our own little stars to achieve.

But how we could reach our little stars?

“Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know?”

These are some phrase of a popular song, Do you Know Where your Going to by Diana Ross in 1976.

Why so many people today cannot reach their destination is precisely because we don’t know where we are heading to.

We should specifically state our destination. We should know exactly where we want to go.

Like the three Magi, they know where they were heading to.

They believed that at the end of that star is where what they are looking for.

They have their star to follow.

We have to start our journey with FAITH. And why faith?

Because faith is the assurance of the things that we hoped for and being certain of things that we cannot see.(Hebrew 11:1)

Faith could not materialize until we have something to hope for.

So what are those things that you hope for?

We should know what we really want in life for this and the years to come.

Our star may be a happy united family, a strong marriage relationship, financial freedom, to be a faithful and committed servant in your ministry, to pursue with your passion, to unleash your entrepreneurial spirit, start a business or be successful in your career..

These are just few stars that you want to follow and reach. These are the things you hope for.

You may not yet be able to see it clearly right now be dismay and desperate. Even the Magi only see the star above but they never stop.

They believe and they were never failed.

Start our journey with faith, believing that at the end of our journey we will achieve it.

There are no failures; there are no mistakes but lessons learned.

Faith without action is dead. (James 2:14)

A hundred miles always begin with a single step.

We have to take a concrete action at a time.

The magi rode their camels and start their journey. They were not satisfied just seeing the star from afar but rather walked to go for it.

You will never discover what lies beneath until we dug it.

We will never discover what awaits us on the other side until we cross it.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.- Proverbs 3:5

Take a concrete action and reject all fears. Our trust should be bigger than our fears.

True courage is doing it afraid.

It does not mean that we are not afraid. Despite of the feeling of fear to fail and hearing from what other people might say, we act upon it.

Our action is driven by our determination to succeed no matter what.

In our journey to reach for that stars, we will meet a lot of people who don’t want us to succeed.

Like the three Magi, they have Herod to meet.

How many Herod do you have that instead of encouraging you, they are pulling you down.

There are people who are so negative that they don’t want you be better than them.

Toxins is not good for our body so we get rid out of them, we get them rid out of our body.

Toxic people and toxic thoughts should not be entertained as they will slow down your pace.

Reject all the negative thoughts that belittle you but rather think positive.

Positive thinking creates a positive results. Positive thoughts lift up our spirit, it boost our morale and increase our tolerance to disappointments.

Phil 4:8 “ Finally, brother and sisters, whatever is noble, whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think of such thing…

Avoid people who rob your confidence and steal your morale and add toxicity level on your thoughts.

Like the three Magi, they never stopped.

They never let Herod intimidate them nor the journey frustrate them.

There is no easy and smooth journey on the road.

Always expect the unexpected but with faith we can conquer all these knowing that our God is always with us.

There is always a prize for those who persevere.

The tendency to complain is great but there is no room for a whiner to be a winner.

We rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character and character produces hope.- Romans 5:3-4

There was a beautiful song titled “The Impossible Dream” adapted from a musical play Man from La Mancha in 1964.

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

Like the three Magi they offered their gifts to Jesus.

All of us have its own and unique gifts which we need to offer, which we need to share.

God has given us blessings so that we could be a blessing to other as well.

The ultimate purpose of our reaching that stars is not about ourselves but rather, this could be an instrument that we could bless people whom God has given us.

The pinnacle of reaching our destination is that we have done something that will leave an imprint on those whom God entrusted us.

What profit a man if we gain and conquer the whole world yet losses our soul.

Our journey shall be in vain if at the end we attain all of the things we hope for yet for our own gain.

“And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest”

You can only be peaceful and calm when at the end of all of those journey we can say “Lord it is finished, I ran the race and ready to receive the crown that you prepared for me..”

We have to serve God with what we received because we have to answer His question “What have you done to the least of your brother?

May the start of this year brings you to a more fulfilling life toward your purpose and core value.

In summary, follow your stars ….

Start your journey with faith

Take a concrete action with trust

Avoid Negative thoughts and toxic people

Reward awaits those who persevere

Serve God with the gifts you received

May your walk toward your stars,

Live in Modesty, Not Scarcity

I agree with the article I read lately as it is in time that we cannot just enjoy today and suffer later, nor trade our present for a bad future.

This is my principle, being modest today does not mean that I deprive myself.

It does not mean that we don’t trust God that He can’t provide all our future needs as his promise is sufficient for our supplication.

To live in modesty does not mean living in scarcity.

Remember the time of Joseph when he interpreted the dreams of the Pharaoh about the seven cows and the seven ears of grain. It’s about Egypt’s seven years of prosperity and after those follows seven years of famine.

We may be working for years enjoying the years of the harvest of our labors.

We may be reaping now the harvest of God’s blessing while we are working as an OFW, as an employee as a businessman.

This could be the time of our prosperity.

But have we prepared for the years of famine?

If you lose your job today, how long you will survive without asking for help from your neighbors, your relatives, or your friends?

How long will your savings help you to survive before you find another job or recover from a major loss?

There is always a season for everything. There’s a time of plenty, there’s a time of needs.  A time for planting, a time for reaping.

We have to understand God’s universal principle; we have to follow the law of the universe. When we oppose this law, then we are in trouble.

God has given us the wisdom to understand this season.

This means that in times of difficulties, we have to prepare ourselves.

In times of plenty, we prepare for the times of scarcity.

Remember what our grandparents said “ Kapag may isinuksok, may madudukot”  If we save something, then we have something to use in the future.

God’s blessing is enough that we could spare something in times of our needs.

This is where stewardship will come to play.

When it comes to our finances; stewardship does not mean only giving God what is due for Him.

Stewardship as well as how we manage the blessings we received after offering our tithes to God.

We love to enjoy a time of prosperity but often forgot to look for future necessities.

But it always takes two to dance the Tango.

We have to cooperate and be responsible with every penny we received.

Here in Dubai, we are being bombarded daily with advertisements, lots of discounts, easy access to loan and credit card facilities, and cheap offers to disperse our cash.

It’s really enticing! If we will fall into this trap, at the end of the day we leave this part of the world broke.

The usual comment we hear from so many people is “no money to save”.

It does not take much money to start saving. It takes will and discipline.

Start little until it becomes our habit until it becomes part of our life. There are so many of us who have this scarcity mentality.

The moment we declare that we don’t have something to save, this creates a wall that becomes a barrier.

Start sowing now while you still have seeds to grow.

Start saving now while you’re still young and time is on your side.

Begin to live in modesty and reap the harvest plenty in years to come.

Start planting and enjoy the day of harvest.

Start now and may your happiness be full,

Mike Sendon
