The Blessing in Abiding His Words

THE BLESSINGS IN ABIDING GOD’S WORDS
John 14:23-29

Do we really love God?

And most of us will surely say “I do”. Because Jesus said to His disciples in verse 21 of John 14 “He who has my commandments and keep them is the one who loves me.”

And that is one of the greatest challenges in our life and in our faith is the challenge of being faithful, obedient and keeping God’s teaching every day.

Heto yung hamon sa atin sa buhay ay ang hamon ng pananatili at pagsunod.

And I believe that we always struggle in this, how to abide in His Words and show that we truly love God.

Let this reflection once again enlighten and encourage us that even when we struggle everyday to remain obedient and faithful to His words, God has promised us an Advocate, a Helper that we could help us to remain in Him.

And abiding in His Words will not be in vain because there will always be blessings associated with it.

Today’s topic is “THE BLESSING IN ABIDING GOD’S WORDS”

JESUS COMFORTS HIS DISCIPLES

Chapter 14 of John is a farewell discourse a night before His death. This scene was so emotionally intense as Jesus was talking about His death, about His leaving them.

That is why He started chapter 14 by saying “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many dwelling places or mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”

Jesus that night was giving them the assurance that wherever He is going, they will go as well. But Thomas asked, “Lord we do not know where you are going, how do we know the way?”

Jesus replied, “I am the way, the truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through me,”

This chapter 14 up to chapter 16 is full of wonderful revelations and teachings that the disciples could not fully grasp that time.

Jesus understood that the disciples could not yet understand that time the message He wanted to convey to them. That is why He said to them that a Helper will bring to their remembrance all the Words that He said.

Jesus on that night, intends to deepen their understanding whom He really is, where He is going and what will the future be as verse 29 said “ Now, I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe.”

ABIDE IN HIS WORDS

If we will read the whole Gospel of John, we will notice that the phrase “ If you abide in my words, those who has my commandments” it was repeatedly stress out.

Why, because Jesus is trying to make a point that for us to truly express our love to God and to others is for us to be rooted in His Words.

Here are some points that we need to ponder:

1. ABIDE BECAUSE WE LOVE

“We abide in His Words not for the blessings but because we love.”

The blessings will follow because that is the consequence of loving Him.

In verse 13 “Whatever you ask in My Name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

Love is the fuel that drives us to obey His commandments.

We do it willingly, we obey it freely, we submit to it fully.

Because doing something that you don’t love is a struggle, but doing it with love, we do it with joy.

I believe that God don’t bless us to love Him but because we love Him and He love us, then we are being blessed.

It is challenging to live daily showing our love for God because it will always be tested.

The more we desire to follow Him, the more resistance we will experience. It attracts a lot of forces to stop us from doing what we desire to do.

But the good thing is that Jesus asked God to send us the Helper to be with us forever (Jn 14: 16). The Holy Spirit, the Helper whom God have given us will bring to our remembrance all the teachings that we learned.

He will download to us the Words that will be the source of our strength, the source of courage and hope in time that we need.

There is a greater promise that if we abide in His Words, we abide in His love he said in Jn 14: 23 “ If anyone loves Me, he will keep my words and My Father will love him and we will come to him and make our abode in him.”

If God abides in us, we will bear much fruits (Jn 15:5) for apart from God, we cannot do nothing.

Like a branch that clings to the vine, anyone who will not abide in Him shall be thrown out and dries up and shall be casted into the fire to be burned.

Abiding in His Words, keeping them and obeying them gives us the joy, His joy so that our joy shall be full. (Jn 15:11)

2. ABIDE BECAUSE WE TRUST

The disciples may not understand during that discourse but what Jesus required them is their trust.

He said in Jn 14:1 “Believe in God, believe also in me.”

In verse 10 He asked them “Do you not believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The Words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His Works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, otherwise believe because of the works themselves.”

We can truly say that we abide in His words is when we trust and believe in His Words even, we cannot understand it fully.

When He said forgive those who sins against you, give your forgiveness even if it does not yet fully sink in. Because later you will understand why. You will have that peace you missed when you live your life in unforgiveness.

Do it afraid, you follow even you have that fear to step out from your circumstances.

Like what Jesus said, if you want to follow me, deny yourself and carry your cross. We may not yet understand the cost of following Him, but we do it because we trust in His Words that no one who followed Him shall be forsaken.

Abiding in His Words allow us to trust and because we trust, it gives us peace, peace beyond what the world could give.

In verse 27 said “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you not as the world gives do, I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

We shall abide in His Words because we have that confidence in Him that He shall supply all our needs.

We have the assurance that our prayers shall be answered as He said in Jn 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.”

3. ABIDE BECAUSE WE EXPERIENCE HIS LOVE

The greatest motivation we can have to abide in His Words is because we experience that unselfish love of God.

Yes, we can say we abide because we love, but we cannot fully rely on our self to love due to our limitations and weaknesses.

We can easily forget but God’s love endures forever and that great love we experience from Him will continue to keep our desires burning to abide in His teachings and to His promises.

The transformation of St Peter, St Paul and Mary of Magdala was fully developed not because they are the one to love Jesus at the start.

It was the experience of Jesus love for them that made them a better person.

It was that uncondemning love that brought them to the best version of themselves.

They became a man and woman who abides in God’s Words because of that experience of God.

Like most of us, even when other people say bad things about us, our friends who don’t believe that we truly change; we continue to follow God’s teachings the best we can be because of our experience with God.

“What will make us amaze is His wonderful grace; He loved us even when we were still in our darkest place”

THE BLESSINGS OF ABIDING HIS TEACHING

Abiding in His words is not easy as we speak. The more we go for it, the more the pull we have.

Because the enemy will not just sit and allow us to do it without any sweat. We will be tested, we might be disappointed, but God know our limitations and weaknesses that He already sent us the Holy Spirit to teach us and bring to our remembrance the Words and promises God had given us.

At the end of this challenges, if we overcome, we can know that we are truly his disciples if we continue in His Words.

“If you continue in words, then you are truly disciples of Mine; you will know the truth and the truth shall make you free”-Jn 8:31-32

His Words is liberating that keeping and obeying it, living on it, we can truly know who we are and the amazing gifts it brings to our lives.

We cannot be chained anymore by our fear and unbelief.

We cannot be deceived anymore by the many lies that the world is offering us.

There will be a great transformation in the lives of all of us if we will abide in His Words that brings truth, joy and blessing beyond compare.

God is always true to His Words and promise.

May your happiness be full,

DRAWN OUT FOR A REASON

DRAWN OUT FOR A REASON
Exodus 2:1-10

Do we not wondering why sometimes in our life, we pass through series of stages wherein, we felt uncomfortable because we are taken out of our comfort zone?

There were times we resisted for change because we don’t want to adapt to the new situations, new set of rules and from where we are already comfortable with.

Are we not amazed as well that in our lifetime, we experienced series of stages in life that brings us to a better, bigger and brighter side of our life?

Life is a journey, it is a series of stages from one to another. It is a process, a transition from one event to another, from one experience to another.

Life stages is constant.

It’s a series of drawn out.A process that God is shifting us every time whether we like it or not.

THE MOSES STORY

In our text today, we read that Moses was drawn out from the river when he was a baby.Little did he knew that God is drawing him out to be transformed to do bigger things for a mission prepared for him by God.

The life of Moses was a series of stages into a life already predestined, already orchestrated and well planned by God for him.

Little did Moses knew that his life were phases of God drawing him out from the womb of her mother to the Hebrew house, from the house to the river, from the river to the Pharaohs’ palace, from palace to the wilderness, from wilderness back to his people to drew God’s people to become a mighty nation.

OUR LIFE IS DRAWN OUT EXPERIENCE

God in our life is drawing us out every day from our fear, from our hidings, from our comfort zones.

God is calling us out from our sins, from the raven we have known.

Even the life of Joseph was a series of drawn out experience.

He was drawn out from his house to be thrown inside the pit, he was drawn out of the pit to be a slave in Potiphar’s house, from the Potiphar’s house he was drawn out to be thrown inside the prison but one day, he was drawn out from the prison to be seated inside the palace. In life, sometimes when we are being taken out from our misery, from our sufferings, from our hardships; we expect that the next stage of our life is something that is good, something that we could forget our pain and agony.

What if the result is opposite than what we expected?

Like Joseph, when he was drawn out from the pit, he expected that he will be freed but he was sold to be a slave.

He serves well in the Potiphar’s house but in return, he was wrongly accused and thrown inside the prison.

But God drawing us out to something better. He draws us out be placed in a stage where He could prepare us to a bigger mission, to handle bigger responsibility.

Moses was drawn out to be trained, to be equipped, to worked out his character to become a good leader, be familiar and survive with the terrain of the desert.

Moses was drawn out into the wilderness to drawn out his people from the bondage of the Egyptians.

1. DRAWN OUT FOR A BIGGER MISSION

Do you know that God is preparing us into something big?

If we will just reflect in our life, God incubate us to become big.

The people of Israel were only seventy when they went to Egypt, but God incubates them for hundred of years to become a big and mighty nation of God.

Anything that is alive grow. It started from a small form, but time will come, it will be bigger when you draw them out.

Just imagine how tiny creature when we were in our mother’s womb, when it was time to get out, we were drawn out larger than it was.

We all are undergone incubation period.

All our experiences are series of stages preparing us to become more experienced and successful.

We become more skillful and proficient not only by acquiring knowledge but by having the necessary experience.

Experience is a good teacher.

We have a mission and our mission is bigger than we thought.David was drawn from being a shepherd to do bigger mission. To be the next king.

God has drawn you from your place to be here in UAE because you have mission for your family.

God drawn you out from your ministry to be a leader because the mission set before you is bigger than what you thought.

Don’t think your condition, your situation because God is about to shift you to your destiny.

NEVER BE AFRAID TO BE DRAWN OUT.

2. DRAWN OUT TO FLY HIGH

Just imagine a caterpillar inside a cocoon. When the time has come, it must come out and be drawn out because it cannot stay inside for long. It will find its way to break the small space so that it could come out and be free.

The butterfly cannot be able to have its wings to fly unless it was drawn out from its cocoon.

Our life maybe like inside the trap of dark cocoon. We cannot see any rays of hope but while we are in our situation that is difficult to bear, just think that God will draw us out.

Never be tired of believing that someday, you will be flying high.

Always sing your belief “I believe I can fly..”

Our life is not always in cocoon stage because that is just temporary.

There will always be time for everything work in season.

Since everything is temporary, be prepared to be drawn out.

Losing a job is temporary.

Being sick is just temporary.

Our comfort zone is not our destiny because God’s promise is not in our shelter.Be prepared to be shifted.

3. DRAWN OUT TO HAVE A NAME

In our text, the child was born but without a name.

He was unknown and nobody known him.

He had no influence, he had no name.

He was just a baby born out from an ordinary Hebrew family.

The baby was named Moses which means draw out from the water.

Isn’t it that God has drawn us out to give us a name?

To restore our dignity and to reclaim the sonship we have in God.We are not known, we don’t have influence, but God is drawing us out to give us importance and to redeem our worth.

For He rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves-Colossians 1:13

God has taken us out from the dominion of darkness and transfer us to the kingdom of light.

God has drawing us out to give us names that represents who we are and the mission that we should accomplish.

You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas (which is translated Peter). —John 1:42

Remember how God drawn out Saul from his old belief to become a new disciple of God defending the faith. He was given a new name, from Saul to Paul.

Our life is drawn out for a reason, to be a better person whom God prepare for a bigger mission.

May your happiness be full,

Catching Nothing May Just Be Another Learning

CATCHING NOTHING MAY JUST BE ANOTHER LEARNING
John 21:1-19

HE SAID “THROW YOUR NET ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BOAT AND YOU WILL FIND SOME”. WHEN THEY DID, THEY WERE UNABLE TO HAUL THE NET IN BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF FISH.- JOHN 21:6

It is not surprising that most of us easily backed out when we don’t figure out what is really happening.

And even we have that understanding of what is going on, we are still puzzled and our limited mind cannot grasp the reality of the situation because at the back of our mind we have still a lot of questions.

Like the story of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, Peter and the rest of the disciples have learned a valuable lessons of Jesus resurrection.

That life does not end even when you see it falling. Even when you witness that it’s the door is close.

When we are not given any more option, we need to listen to His Words that gives direction because God knows the best solution.

Let us again dive deep to the story of the rest of disciples and understand that “Caught Nothing does not mean the End of the Game”

PUZZLED AND TROUBLED

The disciples have not yet overcome and fully grasp what had happened with the Lord even when He already appeared to them the first time.

They spent almost three years being with the Lord and Jesus after His resurrection had nowhere to found and no idea when He will appeared again, what to do next, what was the plan.

Their life for the past years revolve around Jesus ministry of healing the sick, casting out demons and hearing preaching and witnessing miracles day by day.

But for now they ministry is under watch, no more preaching, no more teachings, miracles cease, those who followed Jesus were hiding and some returned back to their normal life wondering what happened.

They may thought that their faith in Jesus made a mess in their lives because they were identified with Jesus and now they were on the watch list.

Their movement became limited.

Still puzzled with what to do, they may be asking themselves “What shall we do now?”

Even in our life, under painful events and tragic experience; we have the same question “What shall we do now?

I have so many loan in the bank and I cannot make things better, what shall I do now.
I am the talk of the town and my friends left me, what shall I do now?
I am now fifty, and not yet ready to retire.

“WHAT SHALL WE DO NOW?”

With this in mind, we console ourselves and return back to our comfort zone.

To where we fit and accepted. To where we are best. To a life of mediocrity.

This may be the same question of Peter and the other disciples.

Peter demonstrate this scenario in like all of us, so he returned where he came from.

Fishing.

Some people fishing is a hobby and to be one with the nature. It’s good for deep thinkers.

But for Peter, he returned to what he loved and familiar, fishing!

Catching fish was his expertise. He knows the sea, the timing and this made him successful.

“You don’t know what to do now? I’m going fishing.”

There was no doubt that even his fellow disciples, when he asked them to go fishing, they all followed him.

When our expectation fails us, isn’t it many of us settle for less?

Because we don’t want to be hurt and to fail anymore

WHAT VALUABLE LESSONS LEARNED FROM DISCIPLES EXPERIENCE

1. WE CANNOT GO BACK WHEN GOD SHUTS THE DOOR

This is what we need to know, sometime God closes more doors than he opens.

He shuts more access so that we could get the right door that leads us where to go. To our destiny where He wanted us to be.

Like Peter and the disciples, we grab our old boats, we use the old nets, we hang with old friends, and we do the old things.

We return back where we fit, where we used to be.

But when we return back to where we fit, we cannot fit there anymore.

Caterpillar cannot go back to where he came.

Chicken cannot go back to its shells again.

Because when we left everything to serve God, there should be no turning back.

The skills we had acquired before should not be used to do what we usually did because God will be using that skills into a different form.

From fishing fish they become fishers of men.

We should not be disappointed on many company that closes their door for you because there is one prepared for you with your acquired skills to be used to a better position.

“Kapag pinto ay kanyang sinarhan hindi dahil sa wala ka nang babalikan kundi para buksan ang pinto na mas mainam kesa sa iyong pinanggalingan”

2. ADMIT THAT NOTHING IS WORKING

The problem with most of us is that we rely on our ability to do, to accomplish something. We brag on our expertise.

Like Peter might said to them, “You don’t know what to do? Ok come with me because I am good at this. I know this going to work”

But what you will do if the things you know really works don’t works?

God shuts doors in our face we can’t go back to where we came from.

Being a Christian, there is no turning back because the mold that we usually fit will not fit us anymore.

“I know this man, this is where I was good at.”

So they cast the net but takes time, some more time, and more time.

But seems the fishes were sleeping or on holiday somewhere because none of them is touching the net.

Peter at this time might be feeling red already and in excuse might say “By this time there should be fish already”.

So they waited for some more time but there were no fish.

Peter at this time might be feeling red already and in excuse might say “By this time there should be fish already”.

How many of us expecting something and until now waiting it to come?

“By this time, I should be with my family already in the Philippines but I’m not yet ready to retire”.

Then you pull the net up, “Surely by now I should have already a husband…”

Pulling it up once again, “Surely bow now I should have already children”

Surely by now, I should have already went home for good.

But the Bible says, they had CAUGHT NOTHING.

We need to admit that nothing is working.

Peter don’t know that on that night, God shut the door for him.

No matter how good and intelligent we are, nor gorgeous and beautiful you are when He shuts the door, we cannot do nothing.

God puts us in a position to realize that without Him we can’t do nothing.

God will humble us.

We need to admit that nothing is working.

Our skills is of no use until we humble ourselves.

“Kung ginawa na natin ang lahat at hindi umuubra, huwag isipin na mahina ka. Minsan kailangang huminto at sa Diyos tumingala para humingi ng kanyang gabay at awa.”

3. CAST YOUR NET TO THE RIGHT SPOT

We must be aware of any abnormal failures.

We should always suspect unusual failures because it means that there is something spiritual going on.

Uncommon letdowns means God is talking to you somewhere.

You can call for help to anybody but when He slams the door, no one can help you.

And when they admit that they cannot do nothing, Jesus said to them “cast your net on the right side.”

Take note that it’s the same boat, the same net, it’s on the same lake, only a change of side.

The blessing comes not because of new net or a more sturdy boat or a new lake but the difference lies on the obedience to a Word of Direction.

It is not enough that you have your skills, that you have the right equipment that you have the right support unless you hit the right spot, we will not make it.

Because when God speaks in our life, He give us Words of direction.

“Ang biyaya ay hindi sa pagandahan ng bangka o pagalingan ng pangingisda; ang pagpapala ay matatamasa kung inihahagis ang lambat na may pagtitiwala”

May we discern & learn in everything that is happening,

The Stone has been Rolled

THE STONE HAS BEEN ROLLED

The stone has been rolled, now we know that we are not fooled.

Because the fullness of our faith is when Christ resurrected from the dead.

When Christ rises again, we know that our faith is not in vain.
He is alive and in Him we are alive as well.

It gives us hope that no one can constraint us from our situation.

The stone has been rolled for us to give us the assurance that there is life after death.

Giving us the courage to triumph over every adversary.

The stone has been rolled for us to be free. Free from our sin and freedom from anyone who make us slaves.

No more chain can bound us, no more stone can hold us because indeed we are free.

NEVER WEEP ON AN EMPTY TOMB

NEVER WEPT ON AN EMPTY TOMB
John 20: 11-18:

Is it not that most of us wept in the past because of losing someone so dear to us?

Is it that some of us after a separation have experience loneliness; brokenness and felt so vulnerable that we wept until we find it normal after a while.

Are we weeping because of a tragic incident in the past that till now, we can get over.

The topic is so provocative; do not weep on an empty tomb.

THE MISSING BODY

Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark and saw that the stone was already been rolled.

So she ran out to Simon Peter and with the other disciples and said to them that the stone had been rolled and taken away the Lord out of the tomb.

So Peter and the other disciples went forth and they were going to the tomb but what they found was a tomb with empty wrapping linen lying.

The disciples returned back to their homes except Mary who remain standing outside the tomb weeping.

WEEPING AND CRYING

Verse 11 says that Mary was till outside the tomb weeping, and as she wept, she stooped and looked at the tomb.

Mary was so emotionally affected by what happened as only few days back, she witnessed how her Lord were brutally punished and sentenced to death.

Mary of Magdala cried when the Lord died and when they buried Him. But the weight of her agony was increased when she realized that the Lord’s body was missing.

Like Mary, maybe we asked ourselves, when all of this torment will end?

When will all this emotional distress will likely to stop?

Why is it that after all of the beatings, the lashes and the nailing of Him on the cross, has they not finished yet? Now they took Him away from the tomb.

Some of us can relate to Mary’s experience.

There are many times that we cry and weep over things we cannot understand.

We ask ourselves why and we just weep on the things we cannot control.

LOOKING ON AN EMPTY TOMB

Mary cannot get it over.

She wept and stooped looking where the tomb was.

In our life, we cry over spilled milk and we are sorry about it.

We regret of a job that was lost or disappointed on a failed interview because we thought that was already our dream job. We talk about it and we cannot go over it.

You feel sorry for a husband or a wife whom you have been for decades but suddenly disappear because you found someone new. You wept and stooped looking on an empty wall, staring on your photographs, reminiscing your memory and asking what have been wrong.

You feel sad that you let your chances to pass by without taking any actions. You look at an unending horizon asking what you will do next.

But never wept and look on that empty tomb because the very thing that we are looking is not our end.

An empty tomb is not a scene of emptiness but a fulfillment of God’s promises.

God promises us not an empty tomb but a life of fullness and rewarding promises.

When Moses and the Israelites were at the brink of their end, God said to Moses “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward. As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the sons of Israel shall go through the midst of the sea on dry land.”

We cannot wait to just stare wait for the enemy to attack us.

We cannot just wait for the circumstances to consume and have control over us but rather we have to move forward.

Lift up our eyes on God rather look down on the tomb.

Raise up our eyes on Jesus that was risen rather than stooping on the tomb where he was laid.

We have to take up our staff like Moses and command the sea of depression, loneliness, hopelessness to be divided so that we could be able to walk pass through a dry land of peace, hope and victory.

DON’T WEEP ON AN EMPTY TOMB

Verse 15 says “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom you are seeking?”

We cry and wept in times that we cannot understand what is happening?

At time, they did not yet realize and understand what the Scriptures say about Him that He must rise again from the dead.

Many times that we also cry and feel depress because we fail to understand the promises that God have for us.

Don’t be so focus on the empty tomb that we neglect to see the risen Lord.

Don’t be so entertained on the feeling of emptiness but rather focus on the fullness of God’s promises.

God’s words are what we can rely for. It is true and it will come to pass.

Isaiah 12:10-11 says “For just as the rains and snow come down from heaven, and do not return without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing the seed to the sower and the bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from my mouth, it will not return to me empty without accomplishing my desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

SEEK FOR JESUS WHO WAS RISEN

Verse 15 Jesus says ‘Whom you are seeking?”

Whom do you seek right now?

Are you looking for someone that will not come back anymore or something that could never be restored?

Are we looking for evidence or a sign?

If we are looking for evidence, the fact will force us to believe.

After all the evidence and facts are presented, there will be no more room to doubt but believe.

But Jesus who was not in the tomb is a sign for many for us to believe but we have the choice.

Seek for Jesus…seek for His promise because He is alive.

WHEN GOD CALLED YOUR NAME

Verse 16 says Jesus said to her “ Mary!” she turned and said to Him in Hebrew “Rabboni!” which means, Teacher)

When God called us, He will always called us by our name.

When God called us by our name, imagine what will happen.

When Jesus called the name of Lazarus, Lazarus came back to life. His blood might already coagulated, his heart already stopped pumping, his body was totally frozen but calling his name, his heart stop beating and his frozen body stated to move again.

No matter what you are into. You might be in deep trouble right now.

You might be totally broken but when God called your name, you can’t imagine what would happen.

May your happiness be full as He is risen.

Dare to Dream

DARE TO DREAM

Philippians 3:13-14

All of us have dreams.

The question in front of us is, “are all those dreams still alive or they were all disappeared like a vapor dew?”

Many of us were all vibrant and full of hope when we were young, we dream dreams. Almost excited that we can change the world, to make things happen.

But along the way, with so much disappointments and failures; we never dream again.

We surrender our goals and forget to dream again.

We just make excuses that dreaming is all for the young.

But even when we grow old, our dreams change to where God is leading us.

Dare to Dream

To dare means:

Do Action Regardless of Eventualities.

Dreams is a DEDICATED RESOLVE that EMANATES from our core gifts and life purpose, ASPIRING for the highest goal possible, MOVING FORWARD with confidence into a SUCCESSFUL and tangible results.

It’s a dedicated resolve, a decision that revs us up to focus on what to aspire with greater importance for us.

Any decision we make emanates from our gifts given to us by God and our core life purpose.

That is why when you decided to keep your relationship in marriage, you decided to love with a single purpose that you want to spend the rest of your days to the man or woman you love and what God has given to you.

We always aspire for the highest goal possible because it stretches us out. It gives us the challenges.

It brings out the faith in us, it brings out the best in us.

When we dream, we move forward with confidence knowing that we have God on our side.

We keep it in our mind and in our heart that it is His will and plan to prosper us and give us a good future.

All this endeavor is to taste and see the fruit of all our aspirations.

The result of all our decisions to move forward in pursuing our highest goals possible with much confidence, fueled by our core gifts and life purpose is to turn it into successful and tangible results.

Dreams that could be touch, dreams that could be seen, dreams that could be tasted.

“Taste and see how good our God can be”.

God will turn our visions to realizations, He will turn our dreams into reality.

Maaring ang isang bagay ay imposible subalit sa Diyos ito’y napangyayari

Getting rid of failures and disappointments

After so many failures and disappointment, we never dream again.

Hopeless that those aspirations will come to reality.

We made so many excuses, we dug holes where we can bury them.

All those regrets, we don’t want to remember them anymore. The more we remember, it reminds us of our inability to make things happen, our weaknesses and our limitations.

But don’t bury our dreams, but keep it with us because this gives us the inspiration.

Dreams give us hope.

Burrying that dream, we stay in our comfort zone. Like an eagle who lost the ability to fly, we prefer to stay with the chicken.

We build a bed on our situation.

Because staying with people with the same experience, gives you the alibi and comfort that what you become normal.

Being lame is normal when you are surrounded by people who cannot walk. Being a chicken is normal when you surround yourself with chicken.

To get out from being normal, then pursue your dreams and find your way out of your norm and comfort zone.

Be ready for a radical change.

BE READY FOR RADICAL MANEUVERING

But we cannot just stay where we are.

Because God has a perfect plan for all of us different from ours.

If other people had wavered in their dreams, there are people who dreamt but their dreams were not realized because God has a different plan for them.

Like St Paul, he had already a plan in his head and in his heart and he was resolved to fulfill it no matter what.

But something happened, he was walking on the wrong road. The road to Damascus was his turning point.

The change was so radical that he needed to despise himself. He needed to forget his own dreams. He was required to change the course of his journey toward the road that leads him to the path where God had called him.

He counted it a loss for the sake of Jesus Christ.

In the Middle of Crossroads

Now is 2019 and we may be in the middle of our crossroads.

We are perplexed on what to do next.

New year resolutions are not enough to make some radical change in our life.

We need to decide, we need to act.

Leave behind all our failures and shortcomings in previous years and let it be our inspiration to do something better for these years and the years ahead.

Let our battle cry be CHANGE IS COMING

Let us direct our hope and our ambition towards achieving something great.

May your happiness be full.

Convert Your Guilt

CONVERT YOUR GUILT
Luke 7:37-50

Convert Your Guilt

One of the many struggles that most of us experience is carrying the weight of our guilt.

Because no one is exempted, each one of us in one way or another had committed mistakes, bad choices, wrong decisions, loss of self-control.

But guilt in a positive way indicates that there is a voice inside of us screaming that we have not lived the best life we should live.

It’s a powerful voice reminding us that you missed meeting the standards that we ought to live and if we are aware of it, we open ourselves for a better version of our self.

We can only lift the weight of our guilt when we begin to own it.

We can only pass through the struggles of our guilt when we admit it.

We cannot impose our own prison and punishment for our mistakes.

We need help and let this article enlighten us as we learn from the experience of the woman in the story.

THE CRYING WOMAN

There was a woman in the city who was a sinner, a gate crasher in a Pharisee’s house who learned that Jesus was reclining at the table, she brought an alabaster vial of perfume.

And standing behind Him at His feet, weeping she began to wet His feet with her tears and keep wiping them with the hair of her head, kissing His feet and anointing it with perfume.

The Pharisee who invited Jesus felt annoyed and may be uncomfortable said something to himself raising a question if really this Jesus a prophet who allowed Himself to be touched by a sinner.

The woman’s action was beyond what this Pharisees can understand but for the sinner, it was her way of expressing her gratitude to a man who saved her life.

A BETTER VERSION OF OUR SELF

That is the reason, we cannot judge a person, a narrative story or a situation unless we know the truth.

Guilt had moved this woman to do good gestures to Jesus what others seem to think that she was crazy.

She transformed her guilt to a gesture of gratitude.

The woman might say to herself “I may have done what they say I did, but I am not what they say I am.”

Because there are times that we do something that does not reflect who we are.

Yes, I am ashamed because I should not suppose to do what I ought not to do.

I am ashamed that I deviate from what is expected of me to act responsibly, to act morally, to be accountable.

I admit I have missed the mark, but I must try again to do it better the next time around.

Our guilt should not pin us down to what other say, but a turning point to prove that there is a better version of me that I must unleash.

WHAT OTHERS MIGHT SAY ABOUT YOU

One of the consequences of our action is what other people might say about us.

It is hard to defend ourselves when there is truth on what they say about our self.

“Mahirap ipagtanggol ang ating sarili kung may katotohanan sa kanilang sinasabi’

Sometimes it’s not what other tells about you but what yourself is telling you.

“Bakit ko nagawa ito? Hindi ko ginusto na mangyari ito!”

It’s harder when the screaming in the inside is louder than the murmuring from the outside.

It’s more difficult to defend ourselves when our inner conviction is stronger than what others are telling about us.

TOXIC FROM GUILT

This is more stressful, and it takes away the peace that we should have.

Guilt gives us more burden and we want to ease this burden.

What we usually do to alleviate this experience of guilt is we change the plot of the story so that it becomes more acceptable.

We revise the narrative of our story by focusing how they made to commit that sins.

We try to focus the story not on our self but to others making us less guilty about what we did.

We ask and solicit sympathy from friends and kin to us who will tell you “No problem, it’s not your fault”

But unresolved guilt is like a toxic to our soul because we let it sink in us.

We live in a lie and untruthfulness and God will not favor any act out of truth.

A sin covered by another sin. We become a prisoner of sin and it holds us back to be free.

We cannot be delivered because we cannot admit the truth.

We can remove the toxic of guilt when we admit we did it.

Living in a lie is not an anesthesia to numb the pain of burden caused by guilt.

Because among all, it is you who knows the truth.

YOU CANNOT HEAL IT WHEN YOU WON’T OWN IT

We cannot live our self in denial.

We can only alleviate the weight of guilt when we start to own it.

The only person who can fix it is yours.

God cannot help us unless we surrender and admit to our self that we are responsible and accountable.

We need to humble ourselves to be able to say “I am sorry!”

We need to be humble to ask forgiveness that we committed the sin.

We can only own it when we humble ourselves admitting that we became weak.

GUILT SHOULD CHANGE OUR CHARACTER

Guilt should change our behavior into a positive character is a powerful thing.

Otherwise, it will be the opposite. It will make us angry and depressed like Cain.

It is good to be guilty and be humble and pull down your pride and say I am sorry.

It is good to be guilty and look for those people whom you’ve sinned and look them on the eyes with sincerity asking for an apology.

The woman converted her guilt into a change of new character, into a new person other don’t expect.

She humbles herself and owns the weight of her guilt by living a renewed person away from where she used to be.

The prodigal son had experienced the same guilt and convert it so that he could become a new son again to a loving Father.

You can surrender and said to your partner or friend that you are tired with this situation fighting over and over again.

GUILT SHOULD BRING REPENTANCE

We cannot have a revival without repentance.

We don’t need a church of guilty people but never repentant of their sins.

We don’t need a church of people attending mass every Sunday, singing, and dancing, listening to the Word of God convicted but never repented.

Guilt shall bring us to repentance.

When the people of Nineveh heard the voice of God through the prophet Jonah, they felt the guilt and repented of their sins.

As long as the people will stick on their own version of their story and will say to themselves it is not me whom the priest or the preacher is referring to, no matter whose prophet will come there will be no healing and revival to happen.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
-2 Chronicles 7:14

GUILT SHALL OPEN A WAY FOR FORGIVENESS

The woman is crying at the feet of Jesus because of the mixed feeling of guilt and gratitude.

Remember this woman who was caught in the act of adultery and she was about to die in the hands of the crowds who were ready to stone her to death?

But Jesus forgives her for that moment.

Again, in this encounter at the Pharisee’s house, Jesus reassured her that her sins were forgiven.

Only if we stop making excuses and justifying what we have done, God can fix everything and remove the weights of guilt in us.

God can forgive our sins. Jesus had shed the blood for the forgiveness of our sin.

I can remove the stains of any guilt and sins if you humble yourselves.

CONVERT YOUR GUILT TO GRATITUDE

Instead of living in guilt, convert your guilt to gratitude.

Live our life away from guilt and live in gratitude.

Yes, I am not worthy to be free, but I am grateful Jesus died to set me free.

I am destined to hell because of my past but thanks to the grace of God.

I do not deserve anything of these because of what I have done but by grace, He continues to bless me.

I am grateful I live in the grace of God.

Every door that He opens is a grace of God.

To God be the glory.

Everything I have is a grace and this is a grateful attitude of the woman in front of Jesus washing His feet.

Guilt that can change is a good thing, but how about those that we cannot fix it anymore?

How about those things that cannot be undone anymore?

How about the child that I killed from my womb?

How about the sins that cannot be repaired anymore which is I am part of?

God’s grace is sufficient to our needs.

We don’t need to live in guilt, we need to walk in the state of grace and let that new life we found in Jesus be seen in us.

Let the same grace we received we share with others.

Remember the parable of two debtors, the more who owes and forgiven have loved the lenders more.

Our guilt shall push us more loving our God more as He deserves more.

May your grace be full,

Mikesendon

Water Your Dreams

WATER YOUR DREAMS

Philippians 3:13-14

Water your Dreams

All of us have dreams.

The question in front of us is that are all those dreams still alive or they were all disappeared like a vapor dew.

Many of us were all vibrant and full of hope when we were young, we dream dreams. Almost excited that we can change the world, to make things happen.

But along the way, with so many disappointment and failures; we never dream again.

We surrender our goals and forget to dream again.

We make excuses that dreaming is for all the young.

We dare to dream.

Getting rid of failures and disappointments

After so many failures and disappointment, we never dream again.

We feel hopeless that those aspirations will come into reality.

We made so many excuses, we dug holes where we can bury them.

All those regrets, we don’t want to remember them anymore.

The more we remember, it reminds us our inability to make things happen, our weaknesses and our limitations.

So, we stay in our comfort zone. Like an eagle who lost the ability to fly, we prefer to mingle with the chicken.

Sometimes, we build a bed on our situation.

Because staying with people with the same experience gives us the alibi and relief that where we are is normal.

Being lame is normal when you are surrounded by people who cannot walk.

Gossiping becomes normal when all the people you know are a gossiper.

Have we ever have our dreams so near, so close yet it’s difficult to achieve?

Then we blame others for our failures.

Like the man in Bethesda, he wanted to get to the pool but he blamed his inability to be healed because no one takes him to the pool.

For 38 long years, he was there near the pool waiting for miracles to happen.

Have you already put a bed on your situation?

Be ready for a radical maneuvering

But we cannot just stay where we are.

Because God has a perfect plan for all of us different from ours.

If other people had wavered in their dreams, there are people who dreamt but their dreams were not realized because God has a different plan for them.

Like St Paul, he had already a plan in his head and in his heart. He was resolved to fulfill it no matter what.

But something happened along the way, he was walking on the wrong road.

The road to Damascus was his turning point.

The change was so radical that he needed to despise himself.

He needed to forget his dreams. He was required to change the course of his journey toward the road that leads to the path where God had called him.

From Damascus to Jesus.

He counted it a loss for the sake of Jesus Christ.

Never worry if your dreams did not materials because God has another plan for you.

The Recipe for Success

Colonel Harland Sanders never gave up even he faced a lot of rejection.

He was already in his seventies when the best of things come in his life.

The recipe for his success is not on the secret recipe of his chicken alone but also due to his motivation not to give up on his dreams.

The thing that can make you discourage might the same thing that could fuel your dreams if you never give up.

Take that last ounce of courage and let it take you to the next level.

Never give up on your dreams and your dreams will never give up on you.

In the Middle of Crossroads

We may be in the middle of our crossroads today.

We are perplexed on what to do next.

New Year resolutions are not enough to make some radical change in our life.

We need to decide, we need to act.

Leave behind all our failures and shortcomings in the previous years and let it be our inspiration to do something better for this years and the years ahead.

Let our battle cry be “CHANGE IS COMING!”

But to be able to live this battle cry, we need to water our dreams.

Water Our Dreams

It’s not enough that dreams are planted inside of us because without watering it, it will die.

The destiny of dreams cannot be realized if we fail to water it.

Our dreams become alive when someone is watering us, inspiring us to continue in spite of anything that happens in our life.

This message is not about planting dreams in you, I am just watering what is already inside of you.

I want to refresh and revive that long forgotten dreams you had that roots were hampered because we failed to water that dreams.

Never expect to have fruits unless you have your dream to take roots.

The transition from planting that seed of dreams to increase is watering.

ASPIRE

Proverbs 29:18 “where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained”

We need to have a clear vision of what we wanted to. For without it, people perish.

They become wild and uncontrolled because they don’t know the destination they wanted to pursue.

Vision set the tone of our journey and this emanates from our dreams, from our aspirations, and from our hopes.

To aspire does not mean only to dream but to pursue that dreams.

We don’t need to stay in a corner daydreaming but we need to follow the path where the dreams are leading us.

We direct our hope and our ambition towards achieving something great.

Our aspirations help us to focus and set the directions we have to go.

It is our dreams, our aspirations that give us excitement that fuels us towards our destiny.

Our destiny is like a magnet and our dreams are like a metal. Our destiny pulls us towards it if we have that dreams which are alive in us.

Dreams make us vibrant, alive, hopeful, awake and full of zeal.

To dream is not when we are asleep because dreams should make us awake.

What happens to that dreams you had, does it still wake you up?

Many people don’t achieve their dreams because they don’t want it bad enough.

ACQUIRE

It’s not enough that we have the dreams and goals.

It’s not enough that we pursue and chase that elusive dreams.

We need to acquire the skills to make that dream a reality.

We should equip ourselves to ready us when we get there.

We just don’t aspire to be good and anointed preacher but we have to study and learn and acquire hours to meditate the Word of God.

We don’t just pursue happiness but we learn how we could be happy and on the process understand what really makes us happy.

Laugher is good medicine but when we laugh without any reason then we need a good medicine.

When God has a plan for us, He has drawn us from where we are into an experience where we could learn…not to harm us but to build us.

Moses was drawn out from the water to the palace to learn the ways of the Egyptian. To learn leadership, to experience to be rich and have enough.

He doesn’t want us to be in a fight where we are not prepared.

Because life is tough.

The enemy is merciless.

We acquire knowledge from education.

Learning from the books that we read, the people that taught us, from our pastors and spiritual directors.

We acquire learning through intense and massive hearing and listening.

INCREASE YOUR BELIEF

To acquire, we don’t focus on where we are weak but we concentrate on our strength.

When we concentrate on our strong points, we increase our belief and our confidence.

And what we will do with our weakness? accept the areas where we are vulnerable and delegate them.

You need people that would bring you to where you want to go, just like a paralytic man the man who was lying on his bed, he had his four friends who able to tear the roof and took him down to Jesus.

Look for people who are willing to tear down walls that hinder your way to the achievement of your dreams.

MARRY A DREAMER

There are people that could help you achieve your dreams, you need only to find the right team.

You have to find the right partner, the right people who are also a dreamer.

You need someone who will water your dreams and not dream killer.

Avoid toxic people that pumps you with discouraging words that decrease your moral and pulls you down.

APPLY

FAITH without action is deed.

What is knowing without doing?

DREAMS is a

DEDICATED RESOLVE

EMANATESs from our Core gifts & life purpose

ASPIRING for the highest goal possible

MOVING forward with confidence into a

SUCCESSFUL and tangible results

-mikesendon

To take the first step is the hardest because we are being seized by our fear.

The fear of losing money if we put it in stocks; if we invest it in mutual funds or if we start our own business if we invest it in a real estate.

The fear of losing the regular streams of our salary if we concentrate on venturing into our own business.

Do it afraid until you’re not afraid anymore.

Our dreams could only be tangible if we start making it happen.

Landing on the moon was just a dream but because they decided to do it despite all its impossibilities, they made it possible.

PAY IT FORWARD

Because to achieve our dreams, we have to pay it in advance.

People who delayed their gratification achieved their dreams and goals because they paid it in full.

To apply is the willingness to sacrifice.

God desired to restore our relationship with Him, so Jesus paid it in full in advance.

Our salvation was paid fully in advance.

If you wanted to be promoted in our job, you have to work for it first.

If you dreamt to increase your wealth, you have to invest your capital first.

Investing is not about money alone but you are investing your time, your gratification, your sweats, your talents and your skills.

You pay it in full because what you see on the seed is not its smallness but you see it as a tree.

You don’t look at your small investment as an expense but as a seed.

You never give up doing what is good because you know that at the proper time you will harvest your good deeds.

Every random act of kindness, every small deed of goodness is an investment in heaven.

Do it and you will feel motivated to do it

Zig Ziglar

The most difficult part of our journey towards achieving our dreams is the transition process.

Unless we put ourselves into it, we can never be able to learn it.

Habits are Character

Motivation is what gets you started. Habits is what keeps you going

Jim Rohn

SURRENDER OUR DREAMS

Whatever dreams we have, learn to surrender it to Him.

His plan for us is better than our plan for our self because He knows best.

The last thing I ask from you is not to settle for less.

Dream big dreams and the universe will conspire to let it be a reality.

May your BIG dreams brings Big blessings to the world,
